Bridal Shower Favors M&M cookies in bright pink & royal blue!

Ok so please don't be upset. No outfit post today.  But I've been wanting to brag about the favors I made for my very good friends bridal shower a few weeks ago!   The cookies came out soft and chewy and although it was a lot of work, this particular friends has been there for me thru thick and thin and I wanted to make her shower special.  I'm also her Matron of honor so I was super excited to make these.  I spent about two days between baking and packaging!  Had to make this for 40 people, but it was really fun!

Drum Roll Please!  The end result!

Materials Needed:   Royal Blue Paper ribbons,  Hot pink & Royal Blue regular plastic ribbons,  Plastic bags for cookies, Flowers (which were regular fake flowers I took off it stems and then tied onto the packaging),  Thank you tags.    Total Cost including ingredients for cookies was about $150.  For 40 favors I had to make 4x the recipe. 

RECIPE

  Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups candy-coated milk chocolate pieces

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix sugar, eggs, shortening, and vanilla thoroughly. Add flour, salt, and baking soda to creamed mixture. Blend well. Add 3/4 cup of M&M candies.
  2. Drop dough by teaspoonful onto cookie sheet. Slightly push a few candies on top of each dough ball with remaining candies.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 9 to 11 minutes, to your liking.  - I only baked it for 8 minutes so they stayed nice and soft!
