Welcome to another flash back Sunday, where I post an older picture me!   It's from about a year ago when I attempted blogging, but then had to stop due to a very complicated pregnancy!  It's a light cowl neck sweater dress from Banana Republic paired with white leggings that have a cool snap detail on the bottom!   It's hard to see on the picture but the belt I'm wearing is pretty neat too! It has two buckles and sorta looks like I'm wearing two belts but it's one!  Also has pretty delicate studding details.    I will learn to take better pictures I promise!  That is one of my mail goals in order to improve my blog for you gals (guys too, but I don't know if any guys read this blog).

Essie Nail Polish Review: PENNY TALK

Friday, July 27, 2012

ESSIE Penny Talk - 1 Coat
Last weekend I had a bachelorette party to attend and as always I wanted to paint my nails but never ever have enough time.   I had purchased Essie's Penny Talk nail-polish several weeks ago, but have not had the chance to actually use it!   Right before I left my house I decided to apply 1 coat on my nails and amazingly it looked good!  I was phsyiced! (no base-coat or topcoat, who's got time for that??)  After having worn this polish for a week it's fading off my nails but have not really chipped.  It's sorta just fading away, which is really convenient when I barely have time to paint them!  It makes it less obvious that I really need to fix up my nails, and can sorta get away with it!  Yes I'm one of those people who never has enough time to remove my nail-polish.  I know I'm not alone!     For about the first 3 days they looked perfect, even though I washed many baby bottles every day!   The color is also very pretty, super metallic but at the same time subtle enough that it can be worn to work.  It matches just about anything!   This is a really nice nail-polish that lasts & can be a quick lift me up solution to a busy mom/lady!

Dressing Down the pencil Skirt: Ann Taylor LOFT Loose Poncho Sweater & The Limited cobalt ponte pencil skirt.

Thursday, July 26, 2012

Today I'm sorta dressing up.  I'm casualizing the pencil skirt!  :)   But you guys know me and you can bet the skirt is super comfy!  It's a knit ponte material and very stretchy.  It was a special deal from The Limited at $19! Wearing a cobalt color skirt with my LOFT Coral Sweater!  The sweater is short so I had to layer it with a tank underneath!  I'm also venturing out in high heels, I forced myself to change it up a bit since I've been wearing flats a lot!   I also added a bit of gold with the necklace, just love putting golds with coral!  It's such a pretty combo!

Cleopatra's Choice Review: Adovia Purifying Mud Mask

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

I'm always on the lookout for natural products that help my oily acne prone skin out.   I was contacted by a rep for Cleopatra's Choice and sent this product for free to review!   The first thing  I considered in doing this review is that this product was not tested on animals which is always the first thing I look for in any beauty product that I use/try.   I believe our furry friends should not suffer for our beauty!

The Product:  Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask $28 on sale (reg. $36) - GET IT HERE

Natural, there is no overpowering chemical or perfume scent.

Texture & Color:
Smooth while applying, but make sure to wash it off gently, once dry if rubbed too hard could irritate sensitive skin.  Dark Greenish Brown in color.

Mostly natural, Paraben Free - For a full list of ingredients Click Here

Claims to do the following:
  • Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask is a great solution for treating and preventing acne.
  • The product can work as an emergency spot-treatment for acne, pimples and blemishes.
  • The product leaves the skin with a noticeable healthy glow.
  • Dead Sea mud infuses the skin with minerals while firming and improving skin elasticity.
  • Adovia Purifying Dead Sea Mud Mask is a “MUST-HAVE” product for anyone who suffers from oily or acne-prone skin.
Now Scroll down to the bottom to see my review & see me mudded up! :)

My Review:
I was very excited to try this product as I have acne prone & oily skin that gets irritated very easily.   I don't use harsh chemicals on my skin so a natural alternative is always welcome.   As I mentioned above the mud mask has a natural barely there smell, no heavy fragrance. When I first applied the mud mask it stung a tad, but nothing unbearable.  After the initial application I waited 20 minutes for the mask to dry and carefully washed it off. You really do have to be gentle washing it off, because the mask dries sorta grainy and it could irritate your skin if you are too rough washing it off.     After I dried my skin, I applied my regular lotions & potions.  Looking at my skin afterwards, I noticed that my blackheads/pores definitely appeared smaller and my skin felt fresh and very clean.   I waited a few days before writing this review in order to ensure that I did not get a breakout and two days later I'm still good.   I would say you can probably get about 8-10 uses out of one tube, depending on how thick you layer it on .    I would definitely recommend this product, and will be using it in the future, especially if you have oily skin.

Now what do you think of my muddy face?  I look like I just got done with one of those tough mudder runs!

Ann Taylor LOFT Tribal Maxi Skirt & GAP Peachy Tank!

I absolutely love this tribal print maxi skirt from the LOFT!   It's so pretty & flowy and love the natural colors!   And the print is just so pretty & unique.    Paired it with a peach color tank, and gold accessories and got a perfect casual summery outfit!   This is another one of those feel good outfits & one of my absolute faves!   I even got a pair of shoes that was a perfect match!  And don't forget to check the blog later, I'm working on posting a product review & have a very embarrassing picture of me to post!  One word! Mud-mask!  :)

Dr. Oz's Midnight Brownies! A delicious easy to make recipe!

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

My husby and me are avid watchers of the Dr. Oz show!   Although we both work we can't really watch it each night but you bet we got the DVR set!  On a weekend morning we will hang out and catch up on the show and watch the parts that are of interest to us.   A while back this recipe aired on the show, and since my husby LOVES brownies I decided to make it.  At first I was a bit skeptical because who heard of black beans in brownies right???  But it's super delicious, moist and it's good for you!!

The only two things I tweaked in the recipe is that I added pecans/walnuts and sprinkled coconut flakes on top of the brownie before baking it!  We also skipped the frosting and served it with vanilla ice cream instead! :) You know in order to get some calcium.

1 (15 oz.) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup agave syrup
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup egg whites
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 tbsp  vanilla
1 tsp baking powder
6 tbsp mini semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 8x8 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. In a food processor, mix all brownie ingredients (except chips) together. Chop on high, until smooth. Clean off sides and blend for another 20 seconds. Add the chips and stir well. Spread into the 8x8 baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for about 1 hour at room temperature.
