LINKY PARTY: Loft Tan & Red Stripe Tee with black skinny pants!

I'm just going to say it: I love today's outfit!  I love the brown skinny jeans with my new LOFT stripe tee.  The tee has a looser fitting cropped fit so I had to layer it with a tank!  It's also very flowy and just feels good against the skin on hot day like we're suppose to have today.  Gold accessories complete this look!  Hope you are linking up for Favorite Frock Fridays today! :)  Hint.. Hint....   OK!  Off to work now!  Hopefully I can get out at a decent time to enjoy some time with my munchkin to head-start a 3 day weekend!  I know I've been slacking with my commenting but  I promise:  this weekend I'm catching up on all my favorite blogs!

Pink Stipes & Black and White Polka Dots!

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Today's outfit is very comfortable.  But what else would you guys expect from me?   I'm not a big fan of uncomfortable restraining clothes!   Plus this week I'm working long hours!  My schedule tends to get super hectic around the end of the month and into the beginning of the month, but that is the beauty of working in accounting!  I'm not a huge fan of black, but the polka dots on this scarf make it totally OK for me.   And who doesn't love a pretty color combo of black and pink?  And while I'm at it I also thew in  a pair of leopard shoes from the LOFT.  These are pretty comfy for heels as it's only about 3" high!   And don't worry I pulled up my shirt on my shoulders before I got to work :)

Ann Taylor Neon Orange Statment Necklace & Loft Polka Dot tee!

Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Can't believe it's Wednesday again!  I don't think time was going by this fast ever in my life! Every time I blink and another week is done! Yesterday little princess had an eye doctor appointment, since we have been a bit worried about one of her eyes being a little on the lazy side!  But thankfully doctor checked and said there is nothing wrong with her eyes, it's just appears that way!  Pheww!  The pediatrician scared me to death with eye-patches & possible surgeries! Preemies are more prone to all sorta issues, so I think he just wanted to be on the safe side!  I keep feeling very blessed, aside a couple scary episodes in the NICU, now at 7.5 months old our baby really has not had many issues since home from the hospital.  Ok now about the outfit:   I hope you guys aren't too sick of polka dots yet, I know I've been bombarding you all with all sort of polka dotty stuff!    This tee I got from the LOFT during the friends and family sale at 40% off! (Recommended it here!) Paired it with my Ann Taylor Neon Orange statement necklace, that I got a while back on clearance. (recommended it here)  The shoes also add a little pop of color, and are from Ann Taylor, but I ended up purchasing it thru Ebay for only $29 gently used!  ( I missed out on these while they were in stock at Ann Taylor!)

JCrew Navy gingham Shirt & Red cardigan!

Tuesday, August 28, 2012

You guys been noticing how cool the morning's have gotten? (well at least here in the northeast!)   With cooler mornings I've been layering more and today I'm wearing one of my favorite type of work outfits!  A somewhat casual shirt layered with a cardigan, in classic color combo navy & red!  I also like to add a skinny belt to make it look a bit more dressy and give the waist a bit of definition!   I love these gingham shirts too!  I have collected about 5 of them in all different colors over the years, with this navy one my most recent addition!   I got it on clearance with the extra 30% off sale JCrew had a couple of weeks back.

JCrew Polka Dot Popover & Black Skinny Pants!

Happy Monday!   Monday is a little better with polka dots :)  I'm feeling pretty simple today, black & white!  I could have easily paired this with colorful pants but for some reason I felt like wearing my black skinny pants!   Remember how I told you guys I would let you know if the LOFT brings back the ponte pants?  Well they have! Sorta.   The only difference is the ones they got now have zipper at the ankle but I think that's in anyways so even better!   Plus in the winter you'll have them tucked into boots so they will look the same anyhow.  {CLICK HERE TO GET PONTE PANTS}  And I'm willing to bet they will have at least 30% off sale for Labor Day!   I actually overheard on the radio the other day that the sales on Labor Day are better than black Friday!

Post Baby / Pregnancy Fashion Tips

Sunday, August 26, 2012

This is a guest post I wrote for Jessi (you can visit her blog HERE) on post baby fashion!  With a new 7 month old at home I’m now ready to share what worked or did not work for me post baby!

Having a baby can stir up many emotions and can raise so many questions! In my opinion it’s the biggest life changing experience anyone can go thru!  And I mean that in a good way.    How will I do this? What will she look like? Will she sleep?  The questions just never seem to end especially for first time moms like me.   It’s all very exciting but I will be the first one to admit that I was terrified of how my body will change thru this beautiful process!  Will I get back in shape?  Will I get stretch marks?  Is it still appropriate to wear this and that?  And the questions go on and on.  Also the thought of my feet growing bigger really freaked me out, I mean I’m already a size 8.5-9, how much bigger can they get, and what will I do to all my beloved boots and shoes?  If you are a fashionista like me, you can’t help but to wonder if your pre pregnancy clothes will fit the same or will I have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe for a whole new body.   If you are pregnant with your first I will stop you right there.   There is no way to know how your body will change.  You can submit yourself to endless googling and find stories on the polar opposite sides!   Some people bounce back in a few weeks, some people are still struggling months even years later.  The best advice I can give you is to take good care of yourself before, during and after your pregnancy and more then likely you will be OK.

I will also tell you guys that you should refrain from shopping for after pregnancy clothes at least till about 2 months after you have your baby! Why you may ask?  Well let me tell you what I did.  I mentioned before that I had a rough pregnancy with a long bed rest and even though I was allowed to work from home from my laptop, bed rest can make you super bored.  Outside of goggling all the what ifs of my condition and freaking myself out, then watching My Gypsy Wedding all day long,  what’s a girl to do?  Well I did some online shopping (of course this was in December / January with those crazy sales!!).   I thought to myself this will look great after I will have the baby, and I ordered pants and skirts a size up from my pre prego size. I thought to myself, everyone tells you your hips get wider and you will never be the same!  Right? Well guess what?   I lost all my baby weight and then some more.   All those purchases are now useless and sitting in a box waiting for me to gain weight.   Lesson learned:  don’t shop for after baby clothes while pregnant, chances are they won’t fit you! This is especially true for bottoms.

And in all honesty after you have your baby, the last thing on your mind will be fashion.  You will be busy bonding with you new bundle of joy and making the necessary adjustment to your new life as a new momma.  You will be sleep deprived, sore and it will take some time to find time to do anything but take care of your new baby.  You will be happy if you get the chance to shower.    I had an emergency C-section, and a tiny 2lb 12 oz NICU baby, so I could have cared less about fashion until I knew my little munchkin was ok.  All those shallow thoughts have left my mind and all I cared about was my baby being OK.   Eventually things will get back to normal and you will have a routine that works for you and your family.   For me it was about 10 weeks before had to look decent again, and even at that point only because I was returning to work.   I did not realize it till I dressed up, but I was ready.   I was ready to be me again.  I was ready to blow dry my hair and put my make up on.  I was ready to get my confident self back.    Now 7 months later I feel great aside from sleepless night here and there and let me share a couple of post baby fashion tips with you:

CASUAL CHIC MOM’S FASHION TIPS FOR POST BABES:

Comfortable clothes: If it pulls and pinches you will not wear it.  You will be running errands with new babes and bending down, twisting, lifting, the last thing you need are clothes that are restricting or uncomfortable.    Leggings and tunics and stretchy and flowy things can be your best friends during this transitional time.

Comfortable shoes:  Flats & low-heeled shoes/boots.   I always thought I would wear my heels after I had the baby.  But let me tell you: it’s hard to log around a car sear in 4” heels without falling on your face.   Comfortable flats have become a staple in my everyday wear, and my 4” heels have been saved for special events.   My personal favorite is a pair of leopard flats.  It’s still fun, but also comfortable.

Pants:  I wore my maternity pants for about 2 months after having my baby.  They were just basic black skinny pants with a super stretchy waistband and it was great.   If you have a C-section I will take longer for you to be able to get back into your jeans and regular pants.  My scar was very sensitive for several months and I could not wear anything too tight on it.  So don’t be afraid to wear your maternity pants for several months after baby.  Also don’t shy away from comfortable leggings and stretchy skinny pants: They can make you looks pounds lighter with the right top.   And by right top I don’t mean super tight tank top.   What I mean is a looser fitting longer top / tee / blouse that preferably covers your buttocks.

Loose tops / tees / blouses:  Ladies this trend is really great for after prego body.   Despite knowing that after having the baby most women still have a sizable belly, I never expected to look so pregnant for almost 7 weeks after having my baby.   Needless to say I was not prepared, so if you must do shopping while pregnant, buy a couple of looser fitting tops & blouse.   Stay away from baby doll styles that will enhance your no longer baby bump.   Trust me I own many flowy tops now.  About 2 weeks after having my baby girl I was grabbing a cookie at the hospital’s cafeteria and here is what happened:
Checkout girl: OMG your baby bump is so cute!
Me: Um Thanks, but I’m not pregnant.
Checkout girl: Ohhh I’m sorry! It will go away!
Me: Great, thanks.
Needless to say if I ever have another babes I will be more prepared.   Another lesson learned: don’t comment on baby bumps unless you know for sure the person is pregnant!
My Ann Taylor LOFT Picks for post baby Fashion
Washable Materials: With a new baby getting clothes that are easily cleanable is a must.   Most of my clothes are soft cotton, machine washable stuff.   It’s inevitable that some of babes spit up, drool, poop will end up on you.   Accidents happen, you can’t prevent them.   So stay away from dry clean and easily damageable materials.

Jewelry:   Not sure what it is but babies love grabbing jewelry & dangling things.   Especially for the first year or two, most likely you will not be able to wear tons of statement jewelry.  Especially that cheap custom jewelry, I would avoid as the last thing I want in my babies mouth is one those items.   If you like to accessorize, I recommend fun scarves.  But the same material rule applies to those too:  make sure they are washable.

Nail Polish:  As pretty as nicely manicured nails can look, for the most part best to avoid on your fingers!  The last thing you want is your baby chewing on your finger and getting a dose of chipping nail-polish!

One last word of advice: If you are questioning whether or not something is still appropriate, you probably shouldn’t wear it.   I’m not telling you to dress like a nun.  But I highly advise you to make sure you ladies are covered, you buttocks are not hanging out of your shorts/skirt and it never looks good when I see a new mom with her underwear peaking out.   My general rule is if you are showing a lot of leg, cover your top half a bit and vice versa.   Unless you are hitting the beach, I think it’s always better to cover a bit more than less!

BCBG Chevron Print Sweater Dress...

Chevron print has been everywhere this year and when I found this dress at TJMaxx it was instant love.   It's so comfortable and great at hiding a little tummy.   I purchased it in the spring when I needed to attend a baby shower and been able to wear it to several different occasions since then!  I love how it has that faux belt in the middle to highlight your waist and take away from the tummy part.  I also have worn it with a real belt too!  I paired the pretty orange / coral palette with gold accessories!  I love gold accessories withe warm summery colors!

Yay!  I'm heading to a friends 30th birthday party tonight, an outside barbeque type of thing!  Taking little Emma with us as well so I wanted to be comfortable!  And even though the evenings around here are getting pretty chilly, I usually get super warm dragging her around!

I'm taking a vacation day today once again from work!  I love me some 3 day weekends :)   Today's outfit is just so comfortable and flowy.   I love the bright ikat print green top.  You know who owns this same exact top?  Katie Holmes.  That's right I'm following in her footsteps :).    The tank is from the GAP, and it has sold out online but I'm sure you can still find it in their stores.  It also came in blue & pink in case your not into green.  The pants are super lightweight and flowy rayon!  Hope you link up for Favorite Frock Friday again!  Can't wait to see those outfits!

Polka Dot Old Navy Sweater & Green Jcrew Skinnies!

More polka dots today!   I snagged up this polka dot sweater from Old Navy when they had a 30% sale for a mere $18 about a month ago!!  Paired it with my green jeans and gold sandals and got a comfortable yet fun outfit!   I ended up getting it in the tall size, since I like my sweaters a bit longer, and figured even if I dry it will still be long enough!  I think this sweater will be great even in the fall and will mix nicely with my scarves! I was tempted to get the green but ended up with this neutral color one instead!

BOOTS!!!! Lucky Brand Studded Boots & Yellow Polka Dots

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Some of you may think that I have lost it by wearing boots in the summer... but I'm not actually wearing the boots outside my house! :) I'm wearing this outfit with my leopard Lucky Brand flats!   But I was so excited about these boots I found at Marshalls that I just had to share! I went to Marshalls to grab some socks for husby and some stuff for baby and these just took my breath away.  I loved them from the moment I laid my eyes on them! Really it was meant to be, that I was right there at that moment these boots were.  Ok, I think you get it, that I really love these boots!  Not only they are cute, but super comfy as well.  They have a cool tie dye ombre finish, and did you see those details on the back!!! OMG right??  And in my defense I missed the whole boot-season last year!! It got put on bed-rest in early December and between the hospital stays and the NICU stay by the time things got normal, Spring was here.  So my beloved boots got absolutely no use last winter. So I'm ready for the cooler weather and boots!   I'm also wearing a yellow JCrew Blouse that I had forever and it has polka dots!  Yay!  Can't imagine a better combo my favorite color with my favorite pattern!

Must have item for the fall: The Mustard Denim

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

As you guys know I absolutely love yellow, it's bright and cheery and just makes me happy all around.  Since fall is right around the corner, I've been thinking how can I work that into my wardrobe without looking like I'm clenching onto summer!  Well it's everywhere and I'm going to say it: everyone needs a pair of mustard pants!   You know that toned down muted yellow, that looks oh so good in the fall!

Target Skinny {fit 6} Jeans Review: Floral Jeans and a print scarf!

A Couple of weeks ago I was browsing at Target with my little munchkin and as I walked by the Juniors department a whole bunch of colorful jeans have caught my eye.   I have a decent selection of colorful jeans, but as of recent I have lost more weight than I gained during my pregnancy and all my pre-pregnancy jeans are huge!  :(   I've been pretty cautious about splurging on expensive jeans since I do think the weight will come back probably shorty after I'm done breastfeeding munchkin!  Amongst the colorful pants I also spotted this pair of floral jeans!    They are soft and feel better quality than the $22 price tag would indicate!   This fit is great and comfortable and has just the right amount of stretch.   It's really a great way to enter the printed jeans market, that is if you are looking to.  I now wear a 0 at the Loft, a size 2 at the GAP, and in these jeans I had to take a 5, which is a close but comfortable fit for me.  These jeans really look more expensive than they are.   The only thing I wish is that the rise would be a bit higher, it's definitely a juniors cut!  I also ended up getting the red pair, which fit the same but the material is much thinner, more like khaki pants!

On a personal note: My baby got her first tooth!   Last night she screamed for 5 hours straight starting at 9pm, so I'm glad I got my pictures for the week done before hand!   :)  I hope tonight she will be better, because I really don't want to go back to the sleepless zombie stage we had for the first 5 months!

Abercrombie Red Polka Dot Jeans - I said YES to them!

Monday, August 20, 2012

At first I was not sure what to make of the red polka dot jeans, but hey I love red pants and I love polka dots so hey! Why not!  I don't shop at Abercrombie a whole lot & have never owned a pair of jeans from there, but they been having some really great sales!  The only trouble I had was with the sizing, but hopefully the size I ordered will work. I will do a thru review once I receive them, but wanted to give you guys a heads up in case you were interested!  It was a good deal at $39!   I can already picture wearing them with a grey flowy tee and a long necklace! If red is not your color, they have them in other colors as well such as green,  navy & royal blue!  GET THEM HERE

Loft Bright Star Print Blouse & Brown Skinny Pants {Jeans}

This past weekend was pretty low key for me, but made some progress in cleaning out my closet!  I have way too much stuff and I'm on a mission to d-clutter  my life & house.  I've been trying to separate them into piles to donate, piles to try to sell and things that don't fit right now that I may want to wear if I gain some weight back!  Also started boxing up some of my babies clothes as she is growing out of them!   Not 100% ready to donate her stuff just yet though.  Today's outfit's blouse is one I posted about here.    I love the dainty star print & the pretty ruffles!   Paired it with brown skinny jeans!
